WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS SAY

They offer excellent prices for copper and other non ferrous metals. If you have a lot of brass, be sure to separate yellow and red from the "irony brass", otherwise you will lose 50¢ per pound on the yellow as they will count it as mixed.

I’ve been using this local scrapyard about 3-4 times a year for my recycling needs, and I have to say, they’ve been consistently helpful every single visit. The staff is knowledgeable and always ready to assist with unloading or answering questions about what materials they accept. What really stands out is how the place has been getting better under the new management. The facility and grounds are noticeably cleaner now—gone are the days of cluttered walkways and messy piles. It’s clear they’re putting in the effort to maintain a more organized and welcoming environment, which makes the whole experience much smoother and safer. Overall, I’m very satisfied with their services. If you’re looking for a dependable scrapyard that values improvement and customer care, this one gets my strong recommendation. Keep up the great work!

I’ve been taking my scrap here for over a year now and this place has turned a corner! There is more staff and the functionality of the place has dramatically improved! Prices are always great here as well as variety of what they accept. The staff even helps sometimes with my questions and unloading. They have posted new hours and if you’re not sure when they are open just give them a call.

The crew at Smitty's has really put a ton of effort into modernization of the operation and the processing of recyclable materials here at this location. An ongoing process to not only the buying of materials at, or even above the daily scrap price, but also to upkeep and the enjoyment of the experience for the customer. Maintaining a clean drive lane and orderly scale and office area to help fit the aesthetics of the sharp neat little town of Brookville its located in. Great small town business and a step in the right direction to maintain a clean and prosperous community.

Serving Centerville

Centerville spreads across southern Montgomery County into Washington Township, mixing a genuinely old core around the Uptown historic district with a large ring of 1960s through 1990s subdivisions. The stone houses and older buildings near Uptown are the kind of property where copper, brass, and cast iron still turn up during renovation. The newer subdivisions are producing a different wave right now, since homes built in the 70s and 80s are on their second furnace, second AC unit, and often their second water heater. Centerville also has an active contractor and property-management presence, and those crews accumulate metal faster than a homeowner does. The drive to Brookville runs northwest across the county, which is why sellers here tend to consolidate into one full load.

Areas of Centerville we serve

  • Stubbs Park
  • Far Hills Avenue (SR 48)

Why Centerville customers need this work

Remodel and mechanical-replacement scrap is what Centerville sends our way. That means copper water line and coil, brass valves and fittings, aluminum trim and gutter, steel appliance cabinets, and the occasional cast iron tub out of an older Uptown-area house. Since Centerville sellers are usually making a deliberate trip rather than a quick stop, loads arrive mixed, and mixed loads are exactly where grading discipline pays. We split ferrous from non-ferrous, separate copper and brass by grade, and explain the yellow versus red brass difference before the metal is weighed. Nothing gets paid at the lowest grade in the pile just because it arrived together.

Recent work in the Centerville area

  • 01.Copper pipe, brass fittings, and a cast iron tub from an older Uptown-area bathroom remodel
  • 02.Furnace, AC coil, and water heater pulled during a subdivision mechanical update
  • 03.Aluminum gutter, downspout, and trim from a Washington Township exterior job

Why Choose Smitty's Salvage for Scrap Metal Recycling in Centerville

Centerville sellers make the run northwest to our Brookville yard with copper, brass, aluminum, stainless, and steel. We weigh each metal by grade, help unload the heavy pieces, and settle payment at the office window the same day. Weekday hours run 8 to 5 and Saturday runs 9 to 2. Call (937) 248-6810 before you load if you want to know how we grade brass by color or what to do with a mixed pile from a remodel.

Centerville customers choose us because we treat every project like it's our own — no upselling, no surprises, just straightforward work that gets the job done right.

Whether you live in Centerville or just need a reliable team nearby, we're a short drive from Brookville and happy to walk you through every recommendation before any work begins.

Centerville is a longer haul than our nearest towns, so the trip has to be worth it. It is worth it when the load is mixed and the grading is done right, because separating copper grades and brass colors on a full trailer moves the total more than a few miles of gas ever will. We do that sorting at the scale, in front of you, and answer questions while it happens. The yard is clean and organized under new management, the crew helps with unloading, and payment happens at the office window before you pull out. Call ahead and we will tell you how to stage the load before you drive up.
